What is a Type Approval Certificate of Conformity no do 1 need one?

A. Once a vehicle has been type approved, the manufacturer will issue a Type Approval Certificate of Conformity (TAC) for vehicles manufactured within the EU. The standard for approval is set to the EU and no vehicle can be registered without it.

Q. “E” marking - does it effect my new car?

A. Yes. Your vehicle will have the latest “E” marking regulations incorporated, which by EU law, all European manufactures have to comply. These are required before any vehicle can be driven on British or European roads.

Q. Will the manufacture's warranty still apply? Car Finance, Car Credit and Car Loans for used cars.

A. Yes. All European manufactures operate a guarantee system applicable to all countries within the Common Market and a Service/Warranty Book will be provided, likewise it is part of an appointed dealer’s contract with the manufacturer, to service their products, regardless of country of supply.

Q. What about servicing?

A. In some cases you will be asked to pay for the first service. Contrary to popular belief, this is not fee but Included by the dealer in his profit margin and whilst the continental supplier would only be too happy to carry this out, it would be rather expensive to return it to them. Your local dealer, according to the agency contract with the manufacturer, will undertake ordinary servicing. As they will profit by this, they should only be bed happy to oblige

Q. Which vehicles do you supply?

A. The choice is wide, various makes and models changes from time to time. It may be worth changing makes for a better deal. Remember we are not loyal to one manufacture, unlike your local dealer and we can help you get good value regardless of make.

Q. What other costs are involved?

A. Our quotation is for the price of the vehicle including a calculation for VAT. The only additional costs are for the 12 months road Fund Licence, Inspection fee and number piles unless stated otherwise. Transportation to the UK is also induced in the price.

Q. I heard that different countries have different specifications of trim and extras?

A. This is correct and one reason why you require help in ordering your vehicle from the Continent. We understand these variations and with few exceptions, vehicles will be supplied to UK specification. (See Terms & Conditions).

Q. Can Finance be arranged for my vehicle?

A. Yes we have a number of finance options including leasing and we will be happy to provide a quotation. Alternatively we can liase direct with your own finance company/bank.

Q. Why pay inflated UK car prices?

A. It is now well known that car prices in the UK are substantially higher than anywhere else in the EU. It is perhaps less well known that any UK buyer who puts up with this only has himself to blame.

Q. What does the service cover?

A. Essentially, everything you order from us as you, would from your local dealer You specify the make, model, options and colour, we quote you an inclusive price, landed, duty paid and on the road.

There are no hidden extras, we organise all formalities and arrange for you to take delivery.

Q. Is it legal?

A. Emphatically, yes. Under Article 85 of the Treaty of Rome, you as a company or resident of any EU member country, have the legal right to purchase any goods anywhere within the community at the best advantageous price. Indeed the EU Commission is actively monitoring the situation on your behalf, to ensure that illegal obstacles are not imposed either by manufacturers or by local customs authorities.

Q. Could I do this for myself?

A. Yes, you could. But as you might expect, it is complicated.

Apart from the problem of finding a reliable supplier and persuading him to accept your order, there's extensive paperwork, export declarations and so on, it really is a job for the experts.

Q. Can you supply from stock?

A. Yes, occasionally our dealers abroad have RHD cars in stock so we can offer certain vehicles immediately.

Q. How do I take delivery?

A. You have a choice. We can do all the transaction on your behalf to our UK Southampton depot. Once the vehicle is registered we ask you to collect, however we can deliver to you for a small charge. Alternatively, you can collect from our European dealer showroom.
